Jiří Skořepa was born December 22, 1954 in České Budějovice. From his childhood, he has been interested in various forms of the plastic arts, his first job being a graphic artist. His musical talent helped him find his next profession- singing at the opera. For fifteen years he was a baritone singer in the Czech Republic and abroad, singing with a number of opera theaters. During this period, he kept painting and even began to study landscape painting.

Jiří Skořepa's paintings have their roots in the tradition of realism in Czech landscape painting. His inspirations include Bohemia- Moravian Highlands and Southern Bohemia. His paintings can be found in many private collections and galleries all around the word, as well as at many exhibitions in Czechia and abroad.
